Area: 12 acres
Space: Can accommodate 20 people
Organic Status: Organic land; no pesticides or herbicides
Active: Year-round, peaking between September to November
Program:

Volunteers are needed to help with seeding, planting, harvesting, and more. No experience necessary.

Volunteers have the opportunity to work in the farm, participate in ceremonies, and take classes. The vision of the farm is to grow healthy food to sustain the family and the general community as well as provide opportunities for people to be educated in sustainability and compassionate living.

Work on the farm consists of making compost, preparing beds, seeding, harvesting, greenhouse work, etc. People are welcome to apply to stay for any duration of time and to work 5/hrs a day or 30hrs/wk. We provide a room and three vegetarian meals a day (no meat on the campus please).

Given the unique spiritual community here, volunteers are expected to maintain a vegetarian diet, live a compassionate and mindful lifestyle, wear modest clothing, and take part in the daily community practices. No children or pets please.

If you are interested, please fill out this form.

There are also other areas to help out in the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas such as food preparation, cleaning, and even teaching. Please email the volunteer coordinator at vc@drbavolunteers.org for more details.
